The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), in cooperation with the ICRC, delivers humanitarian assistance for 5000 families in North Sinai. The assistance consists of 5000 food parcels (110 tons of food) along with 20.000 blankets.

The assistance is to be sent in consecutive batches. ERC started on 19th of February by sending 2000 food parcels and 6500 blankets and started distributing them to families in North Sinai on 23rd of February.

‘This should alleviate the difficult living conditions that people in North Sinai face’ said Professor Moamena Kamel, ERC Secretary General. She also praised the fruitful cooperation between the ERC and the ICRC delegation in Cairo in all related fields.

ERC and ICRC had signed on the 6th of February five project agreements for the year 2017. The five agreements focus on projects related to strengthening the capacities of the ERC in communication and outreach, in addition to its preparedness and responsiveness to emergencies. The ICRC and the ERC works as well on promoting IHL among the relevant actors. They also cooperate in joint aid operations.
