On basis of the humanitarian role, the Egyptian Red Crescent continued its support to the Palestinian people especially in Gaza strip to alleviate their suffering. This role has been adopted by the ERC for many years to ease the strip residents' pains and to give smiles of hope on their faces.

In the wake of the brutal aggression on the strip in July 2014, the ERC launched an emergency plan and formed three emergency rooms that operated over 24 hours in the ERC headquartersin Nasr City and its branches in Ismailia and North Sinai. The branches were provided with strategic stock of relief supplies.

The ERC contacted with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and opened direct communication channels with the concerned authorities along the border Rafah crossing to facilitate the humanitarian aid movement.

The ERC also communicated with the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) to receive aid that coming from Egypt and other countries.

The ERC coordinated with the ICRC and the IFRC and the UN organizations to clarify the steps and measures should be followed by the donor parts to facilitate entering of the humanitarian aid into the Strip.

The ERC youth members in North Sinai participated in transporting the humanitarian aid through the Rafah crossing to deliver it to the PRC or to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. They also helped in transporting the injured Palestinians to hospitals and provided them and their companions with the psychological support.

The ERC branch of Ismailia transferred the humanitarian aid from Ismailia airport and ports to Arish city to be delivered to the ERC branch of North Sinai then to Gaza Strip.

The humanitarian aid that entered into Gaza Strip by the ERC through Rafah crossing since the beginning of the aggression until Sep. 23, 2014 reached 1,992 tons of food, 1,337 tons of medicine and medicalsupplies, and 365 tons of relief supplies; the aid includes 14 ambulances, 15 cars, 6 field hospitals, and 3 mobile clinics as well.

During the aggression on Gaza in 2008, the ERC transferred the humanitarian aid to the strip; it set up a communication network with the components and bodies of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, national associations, donor parties, UN organizations and the governmental organizations to enhance the humanitarian contribution for the Gaza people.
