The ERC does not affiliate with any one of the previous mentionedbodies. It is an independent Egyptian non-governmental organization. It wasestablished in 1911; its activities based on the members and volunteers'efforts. The ERC is the only non-governmental organization that authorized tobe as an assistance body for the governmental authorities in the peace and wartime.

The ERC provides its services to the all people regardless thereligious, political, gender or ethnic considerations. Being a part of theInternational Red Cross and Red Crescent (IRCRC) Movement, the ERC abides bythe Geneva Conventions and Protocols and the seven principles of the IRCRCmovement which include humanity,impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, anduniversality.

  • Facing the risks of disasters and calamities in coordination with the governmental authorities and the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the national societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, and the national and international organizations.
  • Providing social development services to the impoverished people.
  • Providing the health and medical services, focusing on the means of protection from the diseases, and encouraging blood donation.
  • Spreading the principles of the International Humanitarian Law and the humanity ideals to achieve the equality and non-discrimination.

The main funding resourcesfor the Egyptian Red Crescent: first, the donations; second,the financialsupport that has been given from the component and bodies of the InternationalRed Cross and Red Crescent Movement (the International Committee of the RedCross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent(IFRC), and the national societies); third,leasing the ERC-owned fixed assets.

  • Go to the nearest branch in the governorate where you live to get a membership form.
  • Fill the membership form and attach it with 3 photos and a copy of the ID, besides a recommendation letter from two members in the branch.
  • Paynominal fees for annual subscription as it was determined by the branch.

  • Go to the nearest branch in the governorate where you live to get a membership form (applicant should be from 16 to 30 years old).
  • Fill the membership form and attach it with a recommendation letter from two old members in the club, anda medical certificate proves that the applicant is able to practice the physical activities and possible relief works.
  • Paynominal fees for the annual subscription as it determined the club administration
  • The new member should be onprobation for 6 months.
